Georgio Moroder, disco pioneer

1969 was a good year for Italian Giorgio Moroder. He'd seen his song Looky Looky become a hit, propelling him into other opportunities he'd never imagined. Catchy tune:



Throughout the 70's, Georgio worked with huge international artists and worked in film scoring, eventually earning multiple Oscars, including one for scoring the theme to Midnight Express. Here he is in 1979, chatting it up in German and playing his score live before a television audience composed primarily of the elderly, by today's standards.

As for the 80's he really hit his stride, contributing music to films ranging from Top Gun to Flash Dance and American Gigolo to Scarface.
